The Company
S.W. Collins is a family-owned full-service lumber and building-material supply center. Since 1844 we have provided Aroostook County with the tools and products needed to build homes, barns, potato storages, sporting camps, garages, schools, hospitals, bridges, businesses, banks - in short, the infrastructure of the County. Though our goods are top-quality, our emphasis has always been on superior customer service and on building relationships; here in the County, our customers are also our friends and neighbors, and we're proud of that tradition.
The original S.W. Collins store is located in Caribou, Maine along the banks of the Caribou Stream. Next door to the store is the planing mill - not just a relic from our beginnings as a lumber mill, but a modern facility capable of high-quality turnings, moldings and cabinetry. The S.W. Collins Home Design Center at 41 Hatch Drive is just a stone's throw away from the main store, offering a superb selection of stock and custom cabinetry, countertops, and additional items to make your home distinctly yours. And just down the street is the S&G Bargain Barn, where, as they say, "one man's trash is another man's treasure."
A scenic fifteen-minute drive south on U.S. Route 1 will put you nearly on the doorstep of our newest store location on Rice Street in Presque Isle. Opened in 1994, the Presque Isle store has greatly expanded our capacity to serve County residents. Our primary market now extends from Madawaska and Fort Kent on the Canadian border all the way south to Houlton and Island Falls.

The People
Our team of professionals is able to draw from a vast collective storehouse of knowledge and experience as they seek to match our customers with the materials they need. Many of our employees have first-hand experience in the trades, from electrical to plumbing to drafting; others have worked in the wholesale end of the business, adding a unique perspective to the mix. Many have made building material sales their life's work, and the resulting experience has equipped them to assist you with a level of service that is now scarce in today's world.
Our sales staff regularly attends trainings and seminars to remain current on new products and changes in existing products. Whether you need the best shingle for a windy exposure or the right toilet for your guest bedroom, rest assured that our staff is fully trained and qualified to ensure your satisfaction. Take a few minutes to view our employee profiles online (click here), then stop by the stores and see for yourself why we're proud to have them on our team!
